Call for Extended Abstracts

Landscape architecture is increasingly challenged to respond to environmental, social, cultural, and technological transformations. The IFLA Europe Conference 2026 invites researchers, practitioners, educators, policymakers, and students to share knowledge, experiences, and innovative approaches that contribute to resilient and inclusive landscapes.

Submission Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit extended abstracts presenting original research, professional projects, case studies, educational initiatives, or policy developments relevant to the conference themes

Extended Abstract Requirements

Length: 1,000–1,500 words (excluding references)

Language: English

References: Minimum 5 key references following APA 7th edition

Format: submission through the conference platform

Originality: Submissions must represent original work not previously published in substantially the same form

Contributions are invited under one of the following thematic tracks:

Shifting Grounds

Exploring landscape responses to climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental uncertainty, and emerging ecological challenges. Topics may include nature-based solutions, climate adaptation, restoration, resilience, and regenerative design.

Shared Places

Investigating landscapes as spaces of social interaction, participation, health, equity, and community building. Topics may include public space, co-creation, accessibility, landscape governance, and social sustainability.

Patterns of Change

Examining spatial, technological, and economic transformations shaping contemporary landscapes. Topics may include digital technologies, smart landscapes, mobility, urban-rural transitions, infrastructure, and landscape planning.

Memory of Places

Addressing cultural landscapes, heritage, identity, and the relationship between past and future. Topics may include landscape conservation, interpretation, cultural ecosystem services, traditional knowledge, and place attachment.
