
The Acanthus Prize
The European Route of Historic Gardens is proud to announce the launch of the first edition of the Acanthus Prize. This distinction has been established to acknowledge and reward outstanding initiatives in the preservation, restoration, and promotion of historic gardens across Europe. The Prize seeks to highlight best practices that increase public awareness of the cultural, historical, and ecological value of historic gardens, while also addressing the challenges of their conservation, management, and sustainable development.
Entry Form

The form requires a description of the initiative (up to 4,000 characters) and supporting materials (images, documents, media, etc.). Please complete all sections in English. Applications submitted in other languages will not be considered.
Key Dates
- October 1, 2025 – Opening of award submissions
- December 31, 2025 – Closing of award submissions
- By March 16, 2026 – Announcement of winners list
- May 2026 – Award ceremony at the European Forum on Historic Gardens in Athens, Greece
Eligibility and Guidelines
